Last day, I uploaded the new website design for Gitroom.
(What do you think about it? Let me know in our Discord or reply to this email)
I have been talking a lot about design. So, let’s talk about it again.
Why do I invest money and resources in website design?
First, let’s discuss my target audience. Like every business, I try to attract customers.
I’m trying to attract funded companies for consultation and services. The bigger and more serious I look, the higher the chance people will be impressed by it and hire me.
Having a “bootstrap” type of design can decrease credibility.
In Novu, we had a beautiful design from day 1. Many customer calls we used to take started with, “Oh, we actually thought you were a lot bigger company.” That’s mainly because of the design; just seeing the website, they have never talked to us before.
After a long time in the market, I can detect pretty fast if a website is a template or not. And I believe many people also.
Once I see a bootstrap template, I automatically affiliate it with a starter project (even though it might be mature)
OSS friends—this was a great initiative created by Formbrick; I am just not sure how maintained it is, but I plan to add it to the dashboard. It will give people great SEO and make them part of a movement.
Community Deals—I love it when OSS companies support OSS companies. I want to let people add their deals and expose them to the entire Gitroom community.
Is there anything you think I should add to Gitroom?
I collaborated on the new design with Peppermint, which also designed another SaaS product I am working on Postiz.
I love working with them as they live and breathe dev tools and open-source projects.
They are coming up with a new deal for the Gitroom community.
They will give you a 20% discount on your website.
They will make the first page for free. If you don’t like it, you don’t pay.
(Of course, they will select only serious people)
They can do both the design and the programming.
It’s a no-brainer for me, and I will use them for all my projects from now on.
